Keystone Kidz "One-On-One" Program - FAQ

How does the program work?
An adult or older teen volunteer "adopts" a child with special needs and becomes a buddy that stays with them during children's ministry so the parent(s) can attend worship gatherings.

What does the buddy do?
The buddy works with the child during children's ministry and helps them with the activities as well as guides them through their program. This helps the child participate in small group and feel more comfortable in a larger group activities.

Will there be a special classroom for this program?
No, not at this time. This program is inclusive and does not separate special needs children from their peers in Disciple Land or Keystone Express. We feel that every child can benefit from the programs offered in these environments and that it is important that they experience it together.

Who can join the program?
You! At Keystone we want to include ALL families in our Worship. If you have a child between the age of one and 18 who has a special need we want to help you.

Why is the program needed?
Many families find it difficult to attend church together when they have a special needs child. It can be difficult to sit through a service with any child, and those who have more specialized needs can be even harder to entertain in an adult environment. Through this program it is our hope that every child can benefit from Children's Ministry without the parents being called out of the worship gathering. The buddy system will allow your child to feel more comfortable and know that they have someone familiar to them in their worship and learining environments.
