Senior Pastor, Ken Gilmore kgilmore@keystonecommunity.com

(clockwise) Diane, Ken, Eli, Caleb & Isaac
Updated - March 2006

Full Name: Kenneth Daniel Gilmore

Born where and when: Mt. Holly, New Jersey - March 14, 1971

How I met my spouse: Through mutual friends at Indiana Wesleyan University, although neither of us can remember the exact details regarding that encounter. I guess first impressions just were not that important because we didn't seem to have any!

Education: Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana ~ 1990-1994.

How I ended up working at Keystone: The short answer: GOD brought me to Keystone! The long answer: The founding Pastor of Keystone, Pastor Steve O'Dell, called me for an interview after I was recommended to him by the head of the I.W.U. religion department. I also received a recommendation from his father Art O'Dell, who happened to teach one of my college courses. I interviewed with the leadership team and sensed that this would be the first step in my career. I was offered the job the next day and accepted!

Spiritual Gift(s): Teaching, Creative Communication & Wisdom

How I became a Christian: I was raised attending Church and was exposed to the Gospel message through the teaching and preaching of God's Word and by the wonderful examples of whole hearted followers of Christ that surrounded me. I was nine years old when I learned what it meant to have a relationship with God. I asked God to forgive my sin and make me His child. It was not until I was 19 however, that I realized that God wanted to be more than my forgiver, He wanted to be an active part of my life. I've enjoyed His grace, forgiveness and friendship ever since.

I spend my free time: Playing with my family, working on the computer and watching hockey, especially the greatest team in all of hockey, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Books I've read recently: Focus - Al Reis, Good To Great - Jim Collins

First job: At age 14, I worked as a feeder aid, assisting residents in a nursing home that could not feed themselves. I made a whopping $4 and hour and thought I was rich!

Best childhood memory: Playing in the field and woods behind my house and any event where my entire family would come home to New Jersey.

Prized possessions: The joy my family and friends bring me - anything else can be replaced. (That sounds like a Hallmark card!)

Nobody knows that: I've been engaged twice - only one of them took! I also come from a family where I am the youngest of five boys and have a sister six years younger than me. (Now, I guess averybody who sees this will know).

Word I overuse: "Sorry," according to my wife.

Most annoying habit: Leaving my socks anywhere and everywhere in my house. When my wife finds them, I say, "Sorry."

Most irrational act: Oh, that there were room enough to tell...

Best gifts I've ever received: My wife Diane, Caleb, Isaac and Eli.

Best gift I've ever given: A hersey kiss! Ask me about it sometime for the rest of the story!

I would love to meet: My great grandfather Hackett or myself in 20 years.

I would love to live: Anywhere but in the South - I can't stand the heat!

If I could do life over I'd: Have no reason to answer this question.

I'd appreciate prayer for: My family and that God would continue to use me as a tool in His hands.

What I'd like to say to the people of Keystone: Thanks for putting up with me since 1994. I came here as a raw recruit and my experiences with you have shaped me and molded my entire approach to ministry. I am a better minister and more accomplished teacher because of the opportunities you have provided me to teach and to learn. I am continually reenergized by your commitment to Christ and too each other. It is easy to work for you and with you because I feel like a part of a family and not just a pastor at a church. I can't wait to see what kind of ministry God will do through us as we follow Him. Thanks!

Pastor of Student Ministries, Dave O'Vell dovell@keystonecommunity.com

(clockwise) Amy, Pastor Dave, Alyssa & Hayley
Updated - May 2, 2007

Full Name: David Lee O'Vell

Born where and when: Washington , Pennsylvania - March, 12, 1970

How I met my spouse: At her Grandmother's house. I was invited to go to her Grandmother's house each Sunday to eat. One Sunday before Amy went back to IWU she stopped in to tell her relatives good bye. During breaks and the summers we became good friends, then dated and the rest is history.

Education: I have a Bachelors of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University . Graduated in 1993.

How I ended up working at Keystone: I felt God leading me to make a change from the church that I was currently the youth pastor at. I sent out resumes and kept checking the web for openings at other churches. Keystone put a message on the Wesleyan website that they were looking for a youth pastor. I checked out their website, and e-mailed them. We set up a phone interview, then an interview with the Leadership team. I was offered the job and after prayer and consideration I accepted the position.

Spiritual Gifts: Teaching, Faith, Leadership

How I became a Christian: I'm a pastor's kid so I was raised in the church. One day while at Vacation Bible School the teacher asked if anyone wanted to ask Jesus to come into their heart. I raised my hand, but the teacher told me I didn't have to do that since my dad was the pastor. After VBS I went home and told my mom what happened and she told me the truth. I accepted Christ and I believe my mom had a little conversation with that VBS teacher.

I spend my free time: With my wife and daughters, watching football, being outside doing anything

Books I'm currently reading: leadership books of all kinds

First Job: Strawberry picker when I was 14. Can't remember how much I got paid, but it was buy the pound I picked.

Best Childhood memory: Swimming, hiking, fishing, collecting fossils, building dams, playing army, all with my brothers, and all right outside our house in Pennsylvania .

Prized Possessions: Graduation Card from President Ronald Regan, Wedding Card from President George W. Bush.

Nobody Knows that: I accidentally rolled my car back into a State Trooper's car after he pulled me over for having a headlight out.

Word I overuse: “Hey Folks”

Most annoying habit: Changing channels in the middle of a show.

Most irrational act: When I was younger I threw a rock at a basketball when I got mad. It bounced off the ball and hit me in the head. If you think that's bad, I picked up the rock and ALMOST threw it back at the ball. Thankfully I'm a quick learner and I didn't throw it the second time.

Best gifts I've ever received: My wife for sure. My parents and In-Laws and families.

Best gift I've ever given: My two wonderful daughters.

I would love to meet: The Apostle Paul.

I would love to live: Somewhere south in a beach house so I could enjoy the ocean year round.

If I could do life over I'd: Invest in Microsoft real early.

I'd appreciate prayer for: Our growing student ministry.

How I ended up working at Keystone: I was teaching full time, as well as working in the Children’s Ministry in another church, and felt led of the Lord to retire from teaching and pursue a full time Children’s ministry position.  I was made aware of the position at Keystone through a posting on the internet. I submitted my resume with Keystone, as well as several other churches.  I was contacted by a few churches, including Pastor Steve.  After the interview process, seeing the church, and visiting with kids in the ministry, I knew where I wanted to be.  My family agreed that if I got the call, we knew it would be of God.  God is Good.  Pastor Steve called, and we came.

Morning Office Manager, Christine Zucker czucker@keystonecommunity.com

Full Name: Christine L. Zucker

Born where and when: Defiance , Ohio

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from Northwood University , Midland , MI and MBA from Pepperdine University , Malibu , CA

How I ended up working at Keystone: I had felt for sometime that God was calling me to do work more directly for him.  (I left a 14 year career with General Motors 5 years ago when we moved to England ) I was uncertain if it was a “real” job or volunteer work in a ministry, but God opened the door for me to work with Barbara and Terri in Office Administration at Keystone, and I am grateful.

Spiritual Gift(s): Leadership

How I became a Christian: Todd (my husband) and I were looking for a place to get married.  The most picturesque church in Malibu came to mind.  When we arrived on a Sunday morning, through the worship music and message, God spoke directly into my heart and I felt a real sense of his presence and my need to draw closer to Him.  Not too long after, I invited Him into my heart as my Lord in life and Savior in death.

I spend my free time:  Taking care of my family, my two girls, Madison and Gillian, and my husband, Todd.  I also enjoy working out and being involved in Bible Studies.

Afternoon Office Manager, Barbara  Paschka bpaschka@keystonecommunity.com

Updated – February 1, 2005

Full Name: Barbara M. Paschka

Born where and when: Grand Rapids , Michigan

How I met my spouse: Gary and I meet through some mutual friends at a party.  We were casual friends for about a year and a half, then we suddenly fell in love and got married six months later.

Work Experience:  I have always worked as clerical support in a healthcare setting.  My first job was at the University of Michigan Mott Children ’s Hospital as secretary to the Director of Pediatric Nursing.  Later, I moved to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor where I worked at fundraising in the Development Department for four years.  Then I transferred to a new position as an Administrative Assistant in Patient Relations for 16 years.  With “downsizing” going on, I was offered a severance package I could not refuse.  When I decided to go back to work, I was back at the University of Michigan Medical Center as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Quality Improvement.

How I ended up working at Keystone:  I have been attending Keystone with my husband Gary since 1993.  I have been actively involved in the Women’s Ministry and other activities, and knew I would like to do more.  When this job opened up, I saw that the Lord was giving me an opportunity to serve Him with my professional skills.  I was especially happy to learn it was a part-time commitment in the afternoons, which was perfect for me.

Spiritual Gift(s):  Administration, Mercy, and Leadership

How I became a Christian: I accepted Christ as my Savior as a direct result of my brother’s enthusiasm and  influence.  He was a  new  “born again” Christian, on fire for the Lord.  We began attending his church in Dexter and soon I was  going to the altar and asking Jesus to forgive my sins and come into my heart.I spend my free time:  Volunteering at Therapeutic Riding, Inc. which is a horseback riding camp for handicapped children.  I help with the lessons, providing emotional and sometimes physical support to the children while they are riding.  I also volunteer at the Huron Valley Humane Society as a “dog walker” and “kitty cuddler”.  At home, I enjoy quilting and scrapbooking. I especially enjoy gardening and truly feel that “when you are in the garden, you are the closest to God than any place on earth.
